Mobile AI Council

Operating Principles

Independence is a working rule, not a label.

The credibility of Mobile AI Council depends on what happens when member relationships, editorial decisions and commercial interests meet. These principles govern the founding phase.

  1. 01

    Operators first

The Council exists primarily for people responsible for operating MNOs, MVNOs and mobile service providers. Member needs determine programme priorities.

  2. 02

    Evidence before hype

Claims about outcomes should be attributable, appropriately qualified and distinguished from interpretation or hypothesis.

  3. 03

    Business outcomes before technology

Begin with the business problem, workflow and value mechanism—not a preferred product.

  4. 04

    Peers before pitches

Council activity exists for learning and exchange, not unsolicited selling.

  5. 05

    Candour with boundaries

Members should be able to discuss lessons while confidential and competitively sensitive information stays outside the room.

  6. 06

    Technology independence

The Council does not prescribe a preferred cloud provider, AI model, BSS, CRM, software vendor or consulting firm.

  7. 07

    Member data is not inventory

Member information is not sold or rented. Founding Council Members do not receive unrestricted downloadable member lists.

  8. 08

    Commercial transparency

Council leaders may have independent commercial interests. Relevant interests should be disclosed. Council participation does not create permission for those businesses to prospect members.

  9. 09

    Separate, voluntary Formalus engagement

Membership does not create a Formalus lead. A Formalus conversation occurs only where the individual expressly requests one or independently engages the business.

  10. 10

No vendor sponsorship during the founding phase

The inaugural programme will not depend on vendor membership or paid product presentations.

  11. 11

    Member influence

As the Council develops, operator members should increasingly influence programme priorities.

One test applies to every Council activity.

“Would this still have been worthwhile for the operator if they never purchased anything from anyone involved?”

If the answer is no, it does not belong in the Council.
