Mobile AI Council is being established by people who understand the commercial and organisational realities of running mobile businesses.

Founding leadership will remain deliberately small. We would rather build around a few credible, active contributors than create a large honorary advisory board.

Michael Williamson

Founder & Convenor

Michael Williamson is the founder and convenor of Mobile AI Council and founder of Formalus.

He spent his operating career in senior commercial roles at O2 and Vodafone, focused on prepay, SIM-only, 30-day rolling bundles and international tariffs.

At O2, he led the 12-million-customer Pay & Go business: a £1.8bn business within a total base of 21 million customers, accounting for around 71% of O2's controllable contribution.

At Vodafone Group, as General Manager, Customer Acquisition & Growth, he led prepay growth across 30 operating countries and advised a further 19 partner markets — a combined base of around 400 million prepay customers generating £12bn in annual prepay revenue. He also built customer-acquisition capability across those markets.

He founded Mobile AI Council to bring experienced operator leaders together around the practical economics and execution of AI.

Additional Founding Council Members will be published only when appointments and biographies have been confirmed.

What a Founding Council Member does

Founding Council Members do more than lend a name. They help shape the agenda, contribute operating experience, support a manageable number of executive activities, make appropriate introductions and protect professional standards. They may operate independent businesses. Any commercial relationship arising from a Council connection must be voluntary, transparent and separate from Council membership.

Leadership standards

Council leaders are expected to put operator value ahead of personal promotion, disclose relevant commercial interests, respect member information, avoid unsolicited prospecting, contribute substantive expertise and support the Council's competition and professional standards.

Founding status does not create ownership, exclusive territory, guaranteed consulting work or unrestricted access to member data.
